In Plan mode, pick a put-in and take-out, your launch time and the date. DriftR shows the river miles, how long the float should take at current flows, your pickup time, and when you need to be off the water before dark. Tap Save plan to keep it.

DriftR uses live USGS flow gauges for each stretch, a drift speed for that flow, and your fishing pace (how often you stop). After a few logged trips it learns how fast you actually float and adjusts.

Plan is for before you go. Float is for on the water: live miles to the take-out, your pickup time, hazard warnings, and the boat button for put-in and take-out.

DriftR compares where you are with your plan and with sunset. An amber ! on the boat button means pick up the pace soon. A red ! means start rowing to make the take-out before dark. Tap Got it to silence the alert.

In the DriftR iPhone app, yes: allow location Always when asked. In the web version, the browser pauses GPS when the screen locks, so keep it open. Any gap shows as a gray dashed line.

Yes. In Float mode, tap the small fish button (between FIT and the boat) to hide Fishing, Caught and Guide.

Press and hold the map where it is, or use the River Guide tab. Choose a type and severity and add a note. Hazards on your planned float warn you as you approach.

On the website, open Settings › Sync across devices, create an account on one computer, then sign in with the same email on the other. (Sync is on the website only for now.)

Settings › Backup › Export backup saves everything (photos included) to one file. Use Import backup on the other device. On the website you can also export fish and trips as spreadsheets.
